This toasted Italian sandwich recipe is packed with layers of Italian meats, melted cheese, fresh veggies, and zesty condiments, all toasted to perfection. A flavorful and easy meal everyone will love!

  • 1 loaf of Italian bread or baguette
  • 6 slices of salami
  • 6 slices of pepperoni
  • 6 slices of ham
  • 6 slices of provolone cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Italian dressing
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Slice the bread in half lengthwise and lightly brush the inside with olive oil.
  • Layer the meats (salami, pepperoni, ham) and provolone cheese evenly on the bottom half of the bread.
  • Place the sandwich open-faced on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  • Remove from the oven and add lettuce, tomato slices, red onion, and a drizzle of Italian dressing.
  • Spread mayonnaise on the top half of the bread if desired.
  • Close the sandwich, slice, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle some dried oregano or crushed red pepper flakes on the sandwich.
