This stuffed shells recipe is a comforting Italian classic made with jumbo pasta shells filled with creamy ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese, all baked in a rich marinara sauce. Perfect for a hearty family meal or special occasions, this dish is easy to prepare and full of flavor.

  • 12 oz jumbo pasta shells
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook jumbo shells according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  • Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce at the bottom of a baking dish.
  • Fill each cooked shell with the cheese mixture and place them in the dish.
  • Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes until bubbly.
  • Garnish with fresh basil and serve warm.

Notes

  • Add cooked spinach or ground beef to the filling for extra flavor.
  • Use homemade marinara sauce for a fresher taste.
  • Can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking.
