This Easy Shepherd’s Pie recipe is the ultimate comfort food, made with savory ground meat, vegetables, and a creamy mashed potato topping.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 cup frozen peas and carrots mix
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook ground meat over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add onion and garlic, sauté until fragrant.
  • Stir in flour, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Cook until thickened.
  • Add peas and carrots, season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Spread the meat mixture into a baking dish. Top with mashed potatoes, spreading evenly.
  • Dot with butter and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbling.
