  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

For the Teriyaki Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)

For Garnish:

  • Sesame seeds
  • Green onions, chopped

Instructions

  • Prepare the Beef: Toss sliced beef with cornstarch and let sit for 10 minutes.
  • Make the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, ginger, garlic, rice vinegar, and water.
  • Cook the Beef: Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Sear beef for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove from the pan.
  • Thicken the Sauce: Pour the sauce into the pan, bring to a simmer, and add the cornstarch slurry. Stir until thickened.
  • Combine: Return beef to the pan, toss to coat, and cook for another minute. Drizzle with sesame oil if using.
  • Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve with rice or vegetables.
