  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until softened.
  • Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in ground beef, cook until browned, and season with salt, pepper, oregano, paprika, and red pepper flakes.
  • Add crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5-7 minutes to thicken slightly.
  • Stir in heavy cream and reduce heat to low. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, cook orzo according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and add to the skillet with the sauce.
  • Mix until the orzo is fully coated in the sauce. Stir in Parmesan cheese and adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

  • For added veggies, stir in spinach or peas at the end of cooking.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for ground beef.
  • Adjust creaminess by adding more or less heavy cream
