Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups pasta (e.g., penne or macaroni)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (425g) tuna in spring water, drained

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
  • Gradually add the milk, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Cook until the sauce thickens.
  • Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Combine the cooked pasta, tuna, peas, and cheese sauce in a large mixing bowl.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. Top with the remaining cheddar cheese and breadcrumbs.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of mustard powder or a sprinkle of paprika to the sauce.
  • You can substitute frozen peas with mixed vegetables or fresh chopped spinach.
  • Use gluten-free pasta and flour for a gluten-free version.
