This Beef and Broccoli recipe is a delicious stir-fry dish made with tender beef slices, crisp broccoli, and a savory homemade sauce. It's a quick and healthy meal that comes together in under 30 minutes, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth, and cornstarch to create the sauce. Set aside.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef slices and stir-fry until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • Add the remaining vegetable oil to the skillet, then stir-fry the broccoli and garlic for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender.
  • Return the beef to the skillet, pour in the sauce, and stir everything together. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Drizzle with sesame oil and sprinkle red pepper flakes if desired. Serve hot with steamed rice.

Notes

  • Slice the beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  • Add a splash of water if the sauce gets too thick.
  • Substitute chicken or tofu for beef for a variation.
