This easy 30-minute Philly Cheese Steak Sloppy Joes recipe combines tender ground beef, melty cheese, and classic Philly flavors in a simple sloppy joe format, making it a family-friendly dinner favorite.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tbsp water)
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 4-6 hamburger buns

Instructions

 

  1. In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
  2. Add diced bell pepper and onion to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in beef broth, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce, stirring constantly for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Mix in shredded cheese until melted and fully incorporated.
  6. Spoon the beef mixture onto hamburger buns and serve warm.
